The University of York Conservatives 2008

Fully designed and programmed the University of York Conservatives' website. Commissioned by the York Tories to reflect the rebranding of the national party and provide a hub for communication between the society and its membership.

The design settled on is thoroughly informed by the party's style guide at the time.

A small system for adding news comments and debate results was written. CSS-based charts are automatically generated for easy visualisation of the results of the society's debates. The society's calendar was embedded so that upcoming events can be viewed on the website.

Alcuin College, York 2007

In my first year up at York the website for Alcuin College's Junior Common Room looked offensive. I proposed an alternative design which aims to look bold and assertive centred on the college's colours of carmine and black. The IT officer on the common room committee took my design and integrated it with the college's custom content management system.

As a proof of concept I integrated my design with the MovableType content management system. The IT officer chose to retain the custom content management system, but it provided me with experience in the deployment and integration of MovableType. The slideshow contains an image showing the MovableType system in work.

Paul.Giannaros.org version 1 2006

A minimalist personal website with a small form-factor. While the use of colour and general design is reserved or watery at best, it was a first foray into the use of asynchronous HTTP and advanced Javascript techniques. It is interesting in that the whole website is updated asynchronously, with fragments of information being requested to populate the central content pane and the document title.
